in BTS Events, UK EventsThis meeting is available for BTS members only
How to utilise NRP (Normothermic Regional Perfusion) to enhance the transplant decision making process.
.
Join us for a webinar that provides an in-depth look at the theory and application of Normothermic Regional Perfusion (NRP) in organ retrieval and transplantation. The webinar aims to educate participants on how data collected during NRP can influence the decision-making process for accepting NRP organs for transplantation.
.
Programme
.
1. Talk from Prof Chris Watson
Introduction to NRP
A detailed description of the technical aspects of NRP procedure and an explanation of how NRP can enhance organ viability and improve transplant outcomes.
2. Presentation from Chris Johnson
Viability assessment tool
This section provides an overview of how to interpret data collected during NRP to assess organ viability and use it in the decision-making process for accepting organs for transplantation.

Ageing and Transplantation
Thursday 7th November, King’s College Hospital, London
The BTS will hold a one-day meeting to bring together researchers and clinicians to examine major issues around ageing and deceased donor kidney, and liver, transplantation.
As the UK’s population ages and accumulates multiple co-morbidities, transplant units are facing progressively difficult choices around the utilisation of organs from older donors, and how to optimise outcomes in elderly recipients. The meeting will examine the fundamental biological changes in ageing organs, novel interventions, and technological approaches to the older donor, with UK-based and international speakers. The final session will focus on ‘pre-habilitation’ and will update colleagues on UK and international evidence in this increasingly important field.
